- Version 1.1
- -----------
- I've made a few minor changes in character shapes since the original
- was released. I've completed the character set so that it includes all
- the foreign (accented) characters (except the Hebrew characters.) I've
- coerced Tomas at Codehead Technologies to add "Bob" back in since he
- was missing from the original. Tomas is the unequivocal 'Bob' expert.
- I've gone a little off the wall in this version by replacing the Atari
- Fuji symbol with my own Cherry logo. It's a nice change seeing a
- Cherry in your menu bar instead of a fuji. (Humor me on this one. It's
- the only price you have to pay for this font.) <Chuckle>

- Version 1.0
- -----------
- This font is the result of trying to impliment some rules of
- readability within an 8x16 pixel boundary and at the same time have
- it look as pleasing as possible (subjective I know.) Largely, it was
- a failure but I did manage to solve a couple of important problems
- that the Atari high resolution screen font has, and it doesn't look
- too bad at all.
-
- Spacing and text colour have been improved radically. The cap height,
- mean height, and baseline have all been adjusted to provide greater
- line-spacing which improves the readability of 50-80 column text. The
- weight of the characters is 1/3 less than the normal font which
- reduces the eye-straining contrast. Shifting from a monolinear stroke
- to one with varying weight improves word recognition which
- results is faster reading speeds and less eye fatigue.
-
- I failed in typographical design terms because serifs are interspersed
- haphazardly throughout the alphabet in an effort to correct the
- character spacing problems that are caused by being constrained to an
- 8-pixel wide m-square. Careful placement of serifs and white space
- provides the proper 'character fit' (usually improperly called
- 'kerning' in Atari world) necessary for easy readability.
-
- The bottom line is this: I tried. If you like it, use it. If not, turf
- it in the trash and forget you ever saw it. Or feel free to edit it to
- your own liking. <grin>
-
- I've editted the window gadget characters, the £ and ₧ too, but
- I've ignored the rest of the international characters. Hey, this was
- supposed to be fun, not work.
-
- By the way, if you're using a pirated copy of Warp 9 to load this
- font, grow up and get a life (ie: buy Warp 9.) Otherwise, enjoy this
- freebie.
